CommentsFishing has been steady. There are not as many limits coming in and the weather had much to do about that. The fish were in 30+ feet a week ago but have since moved back to the 16-20 ft range again. We seen some nice fish over the weekend and they are averaging about 2.5 lbs. The walleye have had a great year of growth on they are really looking great. It's hard to believe they could recover so quickly. The fall fishing should be outstanding this year. The water is slowly starting to cool down. Temps are on the upper 60's in the bays and the points.

CommentsLast Fridays rain dumped 2.5 inches on us, but the weekend really turned out to be fantastic. I few more storms rolled through and kept the fishermen searching for the fish. The north side has been good from the flats to the west point. Crank baits have been landing some fish while crawlers and spinners seem to get most of the action. One fishermen reported that while crainking, if he slowed down and let the crank come up he would get a bite. The same was true while taking off as well. The vertical drop and rise was catching their eye. He came in with a mess off great fish. The last two big tourneys on the lake really showed the health and growth of our fish with the weigh in's much better then the past years. I think we are going to see some amazing fishing in the next few years.
For now keep fishing the points and don't count out the back bays for some larger, harder to catch fish. If you find one there are more so fishing out the area has worked well.

CommentsIts been a great week at the lake. The fish are starting to bite and we had a fantastic weekend of weather. Everyone got out and I think almost all the boats brought in fish. The early birds used worms and hauled in their catch by 9-11 AM. It seemed to be an AM bite and still on the south side. Not everyone had limits but many did. We are seeing several in the the 16-19 inch range and one two person limit had 3 that measured 21 inches. Nice fish! Surprisingly we had two whopper small mouth bass come in. They both weighted over 3 lbs and one is going on the wall.
Depths ranged from 16-20 ft. for most people and the majority are using worms on lindys and spinners. One boat was determined to use jigs and he finally gave in to spinners to take some fish home! Have a great week. I will be getting the Bite Me Tournament applications on our website soon. The date is Sat. Aug 21st. Hope you can join us.
OH Yes, Thanks to Doug Wiesman of Bismarck and his friend for towing me and my brother John across the lake when my jet ski quit!!! What a ride. Thanks Doug and company!
*Indian Hills Resort: Lake Sakakawea’s elevation on July 14 was 1,849.65 feet above mean sea level. The area enjoys continued improving walleye success. Try working along the south shore using night crawlers or minnows.
*South shore: There’s been continued good walleye success. Try Lindy rigs or spinners with night crawlers or leeches in 13 to 18 or as shallow as 6 to 8 feet. The fish are healthy and nice-looking. Areas to try include the points and flats around Renner and Beaver bays, as well the inlet between them.
*Van Hook: The Van Hook Arm is fair to good for walleye along the east shore or Little Field Bay working in the trees in 8 to 12 feet. Also try the sunken islands in 20 to 25 feet using spinners or Lindy rigs with night crawlers.
*Garrison: The east end of Lake Sakakawea is improving for walleye working as far west as Douglas Bay. Try spinners with leeches or night crawlers in 3 to 16 feet.
*Pick City: Lake Sakakawea is finally starting to see improving walleye success on the east end working 6 to 28 feet. Try Lindy rigs with night crawlers or leeches in 6 to 10 feet. Work deeper with spinners and bottom bouncers or crank baits outside of the tree lines. There’s been decent numbers of fish with overall encouraging success.
. North Dakota Rivers Report, featuring Lake Sakakawea’s two major tributaries:
*Missouri River: Garrison Dam average daily discharge remains at 14,000 cubic feet per second (cuffs)
*Little Missouri River, Long I Bridge: The stream flow average is 721 cuffs; while river stage at the bridge is 1.64 feet.
*Yellowstone River, Sidney, Mont.: Stream flow is 22,000 cuffs while river stage is 8.63 feet, which is less than what it’s been in recent days.

The water temps are in the upper to mid 50's in the bays. We have not had many boats out this week. There are a few today so I am hopeful they will have good news when they come in. I talked to Rick from Van hook and they are just now starting to bit a little. I did hear of a few smaller ones that the fishermen threw back! Just to cold I guess.
We had a successful meet and greet with the Corp and the Friends of Lake Sakakawea. The Colonel talked about his duties and there was some great Q an A. I will try to get some photos on my facebookpage. Have a good weekend.
*Indian Hills Resort: Lake Sakakawea’s elevation on June 2 was 1,841.2 feet above mean sea level. The lake continues its typical June rise. Activity remains light throughout much of the lake with somewhat slow walleye success. However, anglers are finding an occasional salmon in 15 feet and small northern pike from shore

CommentsHI all. Not much action from our ramp yet, but the campground and cabins are ready. The new shower house is near completion! I suppose you could take a cold one by now!!! It will be ready for business by Memorial Weekend for sure.
Hope to see you then. Become a Fan on Facebook and see what we have been up to.
*Indian Hills Resort: Lake Sakakawea’s elevation on May 19 was 1,839.4 feet above mean sea level. The lake is holding steady with a gradual rise in elevation. We’re delighted to be open for the summer and now all that’s needed is for water temperatures to warm up along with the warmer weather to entice the fish to be more active. So far this spring, they’ve been tight-lipped and elusive but that should change as water temperatures warm.
*South shore: The south side of the lake doesn’t have much activity, in large part because of windy conditions.
*Van Hook: Some anglers are starting to work the Van Hook Arm and finding an occasional northern pike from both boat and shore but the walleye are evasive so far.
The Trails have had little use so far but the Bikers that were out last weekend had a great time and said it was in good condition. The cattle had packed it down in places and that was perfered to the loamy areas with no travel! Come on out and help us burn it in again!!!!

Comments*Indian Hills Resort: Lake Sakakawea’s elevation on May 12 was 1,839.3 feet above mean sea level, generally a stable to slowly rising elevation over the course of the past few weeks. The courtesy docks are in place at the resort and things are shaping up for a good summer. Activity is still a little light, though; in large because the water remains on the cool side and the weather hasn’t been much for spring-like conditions. We’ll have bait soon so stay posted and think fishing.
*Van Hook: A few anglers have been out in the Van Hook Arm but they’re also reporting limited success.
*Garrison: Reports remain light from the north shore along the east end of Lake Sakakawea. A few anglers are finding an occasional walleye, though, but the theme is similar to that from Indian Hills – the water needs to warm up.
*Pick City: The south side is reporting a limited northern pike bite with light fishing pressure. Try the back bays where there’s warmer water using smelt or herring on the bottom. Look for more activity with better weather.
. North Dakota Rivers Report, featuring Lake Sakakawea’s two major tributaries:
*Missouri River: Garrison Dam average daily discharge is 13,000 cubic feet per second (cfs)
*Little Missouri River, Long X Bridge: The streamflow average is 1,550 cfs while river stage at the bridge is 3.15 feet.
*Yellowstone River, Sidney, Mont.: Streamflow is 9,300 cfs while river stage is 5.62 feet

CommentsLake Sakakawea is ready for you. The ice is off. Last year the ice didn’t go out until April 28th according to Byron Holtan. Byron put the courtesy dock in yesterday so the boat ramp is also ready. The lake level is on the rise. As of today it is at elevation 1838.9 and expected to keep rising. That is some 13-14 feet higher than last year at this time. I believe the Corp is expecting approximately 1845 this summer. 2009 topped out at 1842.
Campers, we still have a limited number of seasonal sites remaining for the 2010 season. The season runs from May 15-Oct 15th. Give me a call and reserve your site today. 701-743-4122
Scheels Fish Tent April 29-May 1st. We are planning to attend the show located in the Scheels parking lot. It should be a great time. I will be looking for volunteers to help me man the booth. If you are interested in hanging out and visiting with other campers and fishermen let me know!
Have a great day! Kelly

CommentsSome good limits came out of less then 35 feet for the 1st time in a while. The warm weather seemed to help. We have not had any storms ( thunder and Lightning ) for a while so that is sure to help. Wednesday we only had a few boats out. One boat landed 7 and the others I did not see come in. Sorry!! The north side was good to the west for the most part and some nice 24 and 23 inch walleye came from goat island. The Bite Me Tourney is looking to have about 20 -25 teams. Yes you can still get in. I posted the registration day for the 15th but there are lots of folks still wanting in so we will keep it open until Friday the 21st. I just have to have some idea of how many to prepare for. If you are in the tourney stop in Friday are pick up a flier that will let you know how we will run the flights etc. Believe it or not this is the 1st year we will run the tourney out of our main ramp! Hope to see you then. Kelly
*Indian Hills Resort: Lake Sakakawea’s elevation on Aug. 19 was 1,842.6 feet above mean sea level. Some walleye limits are starting to show up. Try working the north shore of the big lake to the east of the resort in 15 to 20 feet using nightcrawlers.
*South shore: Not many anglers have been out lately with the approaching new school year so reports have been limited in recent days.
*Van Hook: There haven’t been many anglers out but those going are finding some walleye working shallow. Try jigs and minnows with slip bobbers in 7 to 8 feet in the trees. Overall, though, the activity has been limited.
*Garrison: The east end of Lake Sakakawea remains fair for walleye – weather permitting - using Lindy rigs in 30 to 40 feet working the edges of sunken humps with a slow presentation. Try the mouth of Douglas Bay.

CommentsThe REC had their 16th Annual tourney at the Hills last weekend. Everyone had a great time and we seen a few new faces, that always fun. Some boats had good luck and some struggled again. The fish are just still scattered. The photos are on our gallery and there is a shot of the winner board so you can see the weights and numbers. Some nice fish came in, mainly in the 1 1/2 lb range. Some one not in the tourney weighed up a 4.5 lber. 18-23 feet with live bait, mainly crawlers. South side was good earlier but by Sunday the north side picked up.
We are getting apps in for the Bite Me Invite! Get yours in soon, and remember there is a steak supper that night at the picnic shelter. It's a great way to spend the weekend! If you have questions let me know!
Eastern Sakakawea Recreation Report
Aug. 5, 2009
Patricia Stockdill
Welcome to a fun feature on the Indian Hills Web site, the Eastern Sakakawea Recreation Report. Check out what’s happening on the Big Lake, lake elevation, Garrison Dam releases, and inflows from Missouri River System tributaries – and fishing, of course – all in one easy location. Applications for the Aug. 22 Bite Me fishing tournament are available from the Indian Hills Resort Web site, (www.fishindianhills.com). They’re due Aug. 15 so sign up early to be guaranteed a spot in the tournament:
*Indian Hills Resort: Lake Sakakawea’s elevation on Aug. 5 was 1,842.2 feet above mean sea level. The lake is holding steady but with runoff slowing down it’s likely time for the big water to start its typical summer drop in elevation. Anglers are having to work for their walleye but those taken are averaging almost 2 pounds. There’s been more activity on the north shore in recent days. Try live bait in 18 to 23 feet around Goat Island. .
*South shore: There aren’t a lot of anglers on the water but those going out are finding fair to good walleye success. Try 20 to 30 feet using Lindy rigs or spinners and nightcrawlers around Beaver, Red Butte or Little Soldier bays. While most anglers aren’t targeting smallmouth bass, they’re getting a few mixed in as they as they fish for walleye.
*Van Hook: The Van Hook Arm is fair to good for walleye with the fish moving shallower in 18 to 26 feet around Joe’s Bar, Lonetree, and Fox Island. Try Lindy rigs with nightcrawlers or jigs with minnows.
*Garrison: The east end of Lake Sakakawea remains slow for walleye but what success there is, is coming from 30 to 40 feet.
*Pick City: The south shore along the east end of Lake Sakakawea continues to be spotty for walleye. Move around because the fish aren’t schooling. Once you locate them, stay on them. Anglers are graphing fish but there isn’t much of a bite. Try working points and bays in 5 to 50 feet. Salmon appear to be spread out so try trolling shallow along the face of the dam with crankbaits.
. North Dakota Rivers Report, featuring Lake Sakakawea’s two major tributaries:
*Missouri River: Garrison Dam average daily discharge remains at 16,000 cubic feet per second (cfs)
*Little Missouri River, Long X Bridge: The streamflow average is 203 cfs while river stage at the bridge is 1.68 feet.
*Yellowstone River, Sidney, Mont.: Streamflow is 11,000 cfs while river stage is 6.19 feet

CommentsWeather today is a little soggy! But as soon as the sun shines again I am sure the boats will be back out. It's been tough but there are fish to be had. The wind has been consistent out of the NW for some time now so all the fishing has been on the south side. Some boats are landing limits and some some still trying to figure it out. The fish are in no less then 20 ft. and mainly hitting crawlers. One person commented that he has not caught as many fish this year as last but he has caught better fish. That is good news to me. The REC Tourney is back for the 16th year! Good luck guys and welcome back. I post the results from that Tourney Monday. Appox. 20 teams. AN just a reminder the Bite ME Tourney apps are posted on our home page www.fishindianhills.com. We also have a new facebook page so you can look us up and Become a Fan!! Kelly
*Indian Hills Resort: Lake Sakakawea’s elevation on July 29 was 1,842.3 feet above mean sea level. Walleye anglers are starting to see some better, more consistent success in 28 to 35 feet working the south side with good numbers of small fish to bode well for coming years.
*South shore: The south shore is seeing improving walleye success in 20 to 30 feet using Lindy rigs with nightcrawlers or minnows. Be sure to try spinners, as well. Anglers continue finding an occasional northern pike and smallmouth bass.
*Van Hook: Anglers are finding improving walleye activity in the Van Hook Arm. Work deep using spinners and bottom bouncers with nightcrawlers but try Lindy rigs, too.
*Garrison: The east end of Lake Sakakawea remains slow and spotty for walleye. Work a variety of depths.
*Pick City: Lake Sakakawea is fair but inconsistent for small walleye. Try 5 feet in the trees working deep, down to 70 feet, although the best success might be along the points concentrating in about 35 feet. The water is clear. There hasn’t been much size to the walleye with most fish running in the 14- to 16-inch range. Look for an occasional salmon in 70 to 110 feet using herring or flashers and squids along the face of the dam.
. North Dakota Rivers Report, featuring Lake Sakakawea’s two major tributaries:
*Missouri River: Garrison Dam average daily discharge is 16,000 cubic feet per second (cfs). Releases remain steady throughout the summer.
*Little Missouri River, Long X Bridge: The streamflow average is 203 cfs while river stage at the bridge is 1.68 feet.
*Yellowstone River, Sidney, Mont.: Streamflow is 12,400 cfs while river stage is 6.58 feet

Comments94 degrees, that was the temp on the gauge in my car!! It's usually pretty close! Two days of hot weather and maybe now that will get the walleye active. There are fish coming in, some boats are doing well and some are having a tough time finding them. Wednesday a boat brought in their limit of 20 so that is great news. Two boats that just came in had 20 and one was 7.13 oz, they tried to release it but had to keep it. The lake was calm until about 3:30 then the wind came up a little and the fishing picked up. For those that lasted that long in the heat it paid off. The mornings have been better for most and they are still using lindys and crawlers, & leeches are just starting.
Most are fishing deep, around 28-30 feet on the south side. Several boats are coming down from the east, prefishing the DWC tourney. I guess they know we have all the good fish!!! Good luck to all of them!
The lake is now 18 feet higher than last year at this time.
*Indian Hills Resort: Lake Sakakawea’s elevation on July 22 was 1,842.1 feet above mean sea level. Walleye success is fair but spotty along the flats. Try nightcrawlers or leeches in 20 feet and deeper.
*South shore: There’s been some walleye activity along the south shore but anglers have to move around and work for fish. The depths vary from 18 to 35 feet. Try Lindy rigs with nightcrawlers as well as spinners around Red Butte, Beaver, and Little Soldier bays
*Van Hook: The Van Hook Arm is still somewhat slow for walleye. Work deep around 8-Pound and Joe’s Bar.
*Garrison: The east end of Lake Sakakawea remains spotty for walleye. Try a variety of depths from 7 to 45 feet and presentations and move around. Overall, though, walleye success remains limited.
*Pick City: The east end of Lake Sakakawea has scattered walleye activity but it’s very inconsistent. Work a variety of depths with a variety of presentations. Look for an improving salmon bite in early August, although current success is generally slow.

CommentsThings are looking better for the fishermen! On Sunday some boats got into so nice schools of walleye. Others still struggled but it seemed like the ones that caught were fishing out a spot and then having to move and find another. The walleye have moved onto the flats, Pepsi and west. The weather again has played into the success as well. The main bait has been crawlers on a plain lindy and a bead or two. Everyone has caught some fish even with the wind and rain. We got off easy with under a half inch of rain, but the wind has been relentless. I look for a great weekend of fishing so come on out. The weekends sites are pretty full but the weekdays are open. We can now reach the courtesy dock with the gas hose and we are still working on getting the gas pump on the new docks.
Date: Thursday, July 09, 2009
CommentsThe 4th of July weekend was great! The fishing could have been better but I think everyone was thankful for a weekend of good weather. There are some nice healthy fish coming in, just not as many as expected this time of year. Everthing is late this summer. Even the Juneberrys are not ripe! That should tell us something. The water is still cold and the fish coming out of 14 ft are like popciles! One report was that the walleye that were caught at Parshall are were not as healthy as the ones landed here. Crawlers are the bait of choice and it seems to range from 14- 30+ feet. The bigger ones are coming from the deeper water. Larry from Engerlin caught 5 this AM in 28 feet!

CommentsThe Bobcat Derby ran Sat and Sun out of Indian Hills. They could fish anywhere on the lake and had to check in by 4-5pm Sat and 1 pm Sun. They found some fish and lots of sunburns!! Everyone had a great time from the looks of it. This is the link to the photos I uploaded to our site. http://www.indianhillsfun.smugmug.com/ Some of the boats trailered up north and some stayed in the area. The bigger fish seemed to come from up north near New Town but by Sunday there were some good numbers of smaller fish starting to come in. Keith Thornby and friends went out to Pepsi flats and found 8 small ones from 4-7pm. 18-20 feet. Kelly
Date: Monday, June 08, 2009
CommentsJust a few articals that you might like to read. The water was 1833.9 on Sat. Fishing is very slow with the rain but this weekend we will host the Bobcat Derby and with a little luck and some warmer weather I think we will start seeing the water warm up and the walleye become active. 57 degrees sounds like a key water temp for that! Stay warm. Kelly

May 20, 2008
Welcome to the second season of the Eastern Sakakawea Recreation Report, a fun feature on the Indian Hills Web site. Check out what’s happening on the Big Lake, its elevation, Garrison Dam releases, and inflows from Missouri River System tributaries – and fishing, of course – all in one easy location:
*Indian Hills Resort: Lake Sakakawea’s elevation on May 20 was 1,831.3 feet above mean sea level. The courtesy dock in place and with higher lake levels we’re able to use our main ramp again. There’s been some activity but walleye success is limited so far, probably because water temperatures remain somewhat cool and the water is muddy yet.
*South shore: Across the water, the south shore is also fairly quiet for angling activity.
*Van Hook: The Arm has some northern pike shore-fishing activity. Boat fishing is still somewhat limited but those venturing out are finding an occasional walleye in 5 to 10 feet where the water is warmer.
*Garrison: There hasn’t been much activity on the east end yet for walleye but look for more anglers and more success with warmer water and air temperatures.
*Pick City: Salmon anglers continue finding some fish along the face of the dam. Be sure to try a variety of techniques.

CommentsGood day to everyone! We had a good weekend at the lake. Not much to speak of for fish, the water is muddy on both sides. There are so many things to be excited about this spring that catching fish may be the last. Just getting the boats in the water on the main ramp and spending the day on the lake was enought for most. It was wonderful to see the boats going out of our bay for the 1st time in almost 6 years. It's going to be a great summer!!!
Date: Wednesday, May 13, 2009
CommentsSpring is finally here and we are getting ready for another great summer. You won’t believe the water levels. We have water in the bay and the courtesy dock is in and ready for you. I will be getting bait in Thursday and filling shelves from now until the official opening Friday 22nd. The campground now has the water turned on as of Sunday thanks to Byron and Dale. Showers will be ready for weekend.
We had a few boats out last weekend but I did not get the chance to talk to them as they were chased off the lake by a storm. So sorry, pretty weak fishing report!!
I wanted to get the word out that I have a couple of seasonal sites that opened up at the last minute. They rent for $1250.00 May 15-Oct 15 please contact ASAP if you are interested. 701-743-4122
Have a great week, Kelly

CommentsIt's been a long time since we have have a courtesy dock in front of the store at Indian Hills but as of Tues we installed the dock and it is ready for fishermen! As of Wednesday there was substantial ice on the main lake but the bay is wide open. I will plan on having bait the week of May 14th. We only get the water on about that time but your welcome to come out and fish. There should be some big northerns stalking the bays by now.
We are looking forward to a great year with gas on the water and overnight docks. This year will be the 1st year for our new dock system. We will be able to accommodate large boats and small. There are slips up to 32 ft. If you are interested in docking at Indian Hills please let me know. I will be renting out the small fishing dock size docks as well. Again please contact me if you are interested. I can't say how many we will have in for sure. That will be determined by the water levels. First come first serve! Also it looks as though I may have a couple of seasonal site open as of today. Please contact me via phone at 391-8710 These will fill very quickly.
It's great to have such good news for once!!!
Have a great day. Kelly

Finally a good REPORT, or should I say GREAT. The walleye seem to
be hungry again!! Greg Schonic is a local guide on Sakakawea, headed
of to Deepwater Bay area Thursday with some customers. Their day
turned out to be fantastic! They did get a little wind whipped in
the 15-25 mph wind that always seems to feel more like 30-40. But
it paid off with the release of 3 over 5lbs and one 7.2 lb walleye.
Not to mention the 5 gallon bucket of 2-4 ponders. I guess I didnt
count them but I will say 10 for sure. Ill try to get some photos
from Greg posted! They were in 25 feet running crank baits. The walleye
all seem to be in very good shape, which is a good sign going into
the winter months. Our boat ramp is still in good working condition,
so take advantage of this Indian Summer while it lasts. Kelly

Fishing has slowed down a bit here. I had heard of the shut off
at the Van Hook area and also at the Deepwater area. Now we started
to see it too. The weather has been very windy so not many have braved
the waves, and with school starting the nunber of fisherman has dropped
dramaticly. We have been spoiled all summer with some of the greatest
fishing in years. Now we are going to work for them.Crawlwers and
lidy's are still good in 30-50 feet. When the water starts to
cool the walleye will start the feeding agin, it my be just around
the corner. September is a good time to land the larger fish so don't
put away the poles yet! Til next time. Kelly

There are still plenty of walleyes to be caught this summer! With
the recent windy days we have been experiencing, the fish have been
spread out into various depths. Crawlers and leeches are still working
great, but crank baiting has its benefits also. Another reminder,
this weekend we will be hosting the Bite Me Invite (Saturday, August
20). For those interested call us at the office or go to our webpage
under the Fishing and Lake Reports link and you will find additional
information. Spots are limited so register now!

Greetings from Indian Hills Resort! With the summer moving on in
to August and the water temperature heating up onto the 70s the
fish are moving deeper. We are still seeing excellent fishing for
this time of year. Crawlers and leeches are working great, but anglers
must get them down in to 30 feet plus water. The best places to find
them are on steep drop-offs and islands in bellow the 30 ft. range.
The walleyes seem to be most active in the morning after about 9:00
am CST and throughout the evening. A big thanks goes out to the gentlemen
of REC. They had a great weekend of fishing and we are looking forward
to seeing them in the future.

Walleye fishing continues to be strong this past week. Aside from
some weather fronts moving through the bite has showed most of its
strength in the morning. Anglers are finding fish out front of Indian
Hills at Pepsi Point in the flats and also reports of great fishing
around Beacon Point and the Deepwater Bay area. Walleyes can be found
in 15 to 25 feet with crawlers and leeches producing most of the
catch.

The fishing has been solid around Indian Hills this past week. Crawlers
are the favorite choice of bait among anglers. Walleyes are hitting
around 17 to 25 feet, depending on the location on the lake. Weve
been hearing more reports of fisherman catching nice fish by crank
baiting. Pepsi Point still has a good morning bite and in the afternoon
rocky points seems to hold most of the fish.

If you havent been up to the big lake to fish yet youre missing
some of the best fishing the lake has had to offer in a while. Its
defiantly a better year then the last. Our water levels have risen
from 1806 in the spring to 1817 currently. We are now using the 2004
boat ramp and access is good. Fishing seems to be very steady, and
the numbers are good. Most boats are in by mid morning if they have
had an early start. Evenings have proven to be good also with some
large walleye coming in. The larger numbers of fish are coming off
of the sand flats, lots of smaller ones, and the larger ones are
a bit more scattered. Last night a couple spent a few evening hours
out east of Tollys point and picked up two 4s an 5 and several
small ones. I will send the photo also. Dont make any more excuses,
get up to the lake and enjoy it while it lasts. Its a great time
to take the non-fisherman out and show them a good time. Until next
time, have a great week. Kelly

Pepsi Point and the flats outside of Good Bear Bay have produced
steady numbers of walleyes. Red Butte Bay has also produced fish
on the west outside part of the bay. Leeches and crawlers with a
green or yellow hook seem to work the best. The fish are found a
a variety of depts, even as deep as 25 ft.

The fishing has been hot here at Indian Hills. Most of the walleyes
are caught at Pepsi Point on the flats. Large fish, in the 5-8 pound
range, have been abundant. A red hook with crawlers and leeches are
doing the trick. The fish can be found in 7 to 13 feet, depending
on the weather and time of day. We did have a large thunder storm
here last night which may have affected the bite. Nothing has been
repoted corresponding to the storm's affect on fishing.

The nice weather on Friday the 17th has warmed the surface temp
to 65-68 degrees and a little warmer in the bays. The warmth that
we have had flipped the switch for the walleyes and saugers. They
are catching them in 8 to 13 feet of water using lindy rigs and minnows.
Crawlers are also starting to work great. Green seems to be the color
of choice on sunny days and red on the cloudy days. Last years ramp
is the only ramp usable right known because the water has came up
so much. It is in great shape with two docks out to tie the boat
to.

Fishing the mid section of the lake really picked up this weekend.
Friday and Saturday mornings produced some great size walleye and
finally some numbers. All the boats seem to be bringing in fish,
some more then others. 13 feet was a popular depth using minnows.
Dont forget about the great small mouth bass the lake produces.
One boat landed several that were within the catch and release category.
Surface water temps were in ten low 60s Until next time. Good Fishin Kelly

The walleye season is getting an average start in the central section
of the lake. Water temps are still in the low 50s on both sides
of the lake, and 54-56 degrees in the bays. The walleyes are being
taken out of 5-10 feet on minnows and some saugers are coming from
25-30 feet. The Newly constructed boat ramp is nearly under water
due to raising water levels. As of June 6th the corp. gave us the
go ahead to start using the 2004 ramp. It will easily launch 16-20
foot boats.

As of 5/25/05 we officially have a boat ramp open for launching.
There is 6-7 feet of water at its end, and can be extended if needed.
The bait shop is also open with gas, minnows crawlers and leeches
.The Lake has raised about a foot in the last week. We will take
all we can get! A report from fisherman on the south side in the
Red Butte area, noted that they were finding nice sized walleye in
20 feet of water with a gig and a minnow. Fishing is said to be fantastic
this year so get out and find out for yourselves.
